Monday Night Poker League Season 18 Kicks Off: Brian Horn Comes Back With a Vengeance

 

Monday Night Poker League Is Back! 

SEASON 18

The Monday Night Poker League is officially back for another season, Season 18, and opening night brought a great mix of returning players, new faces, and plenty of action at the table.

Returning this season are Jacob, Mike Bickford,  while Neamand, Butter, and Pete L. have stepped away from the league this season.

We also welcomed a brand-new player for the first time ever, Michael Matos, who officially joined the Monday Night Poker League lineup.

Even though it was only the first night of the season, we already had three subs step in to keep the tables full. Joel subbed for Mike Bickford, Vinny filled in for Roger, and Johnny the Barber took the seat for Ray C.

But opening night belonged to Brian Horn.

After a rough summer, Brian came back to the league with a vengeance and apparently brought every ace in the deck with him. In something we've never seen before in league play, Brian was dealt pocket aces SEVEN TIMES throughout the night!

And he didn't waste the opportunity.

Brian battled his way through the field and eventually found himself heads-up against Ed “The Magician.” But like the Eagles on MNF, When the final hand was dealt,  Ed came up short. Brian finished the job and took down opening night for the win.

Pierre also came back ready to play after spending the summer working Phillies games. He made his presence felt immediately and picked up a lotto win for the night.

Defending champion Foster showed that he's ready to defend his title, making another deep run on opening night but falling just short of closing it out.

The next Monday Night Poker League game is October 26, and it's our annual Halloween event.

Season 14 Starts with a Sub

 Season 14 started with sub galore. Even though just about everyone came back into the league a lot of players needed a sub for their first game. Keane, Larry and Ray all used subs for the game. Ray used Tim Murphy who also won the summer tournament. In that match he went heads up against Mikey Mush Lopresti and won. History repeated itself when the two went heads up again and the same outcome occurred. 

Shocker that a bunch of subs went deep and the angling Lopresti Brothers made final table appearances.

One new rule was added that allows for an emergency sub in the final game. 

Jacob hit a Q high Straight flush to start off with a strong high hand. 

Next game is the first ever league Mystery Bounty tournament on October 17th.
